The main features of a network that affect the performance of Microsoft Dynamics Outlook clients, are bandwidth and latency.
Bandwidth is the width or capacity of a specific communications channel.
Latency is the time required for a signal to travel from one point on a network to another.
One of the main causes of poor performance of Microsoft Dynamics CRM clients is the latency of the network over which the clients connect to the Microsoft Dynamics organization. Lower latencies (in milliseconds) generally provide better levels of performance.
Even If the latency of a network connection is low, bandwidth can become a performance degradation factor if there are many resources sharing the network connection.
First thing is to verify where the issue lies whether bandwidth or latency seems to be part of the problem.
How to check latency?
1. Log in to your CRM Online organization
2. Navigate to the appropriate relative path for your organization:
3. Click the Run button for All Tests.
This CRM Diagnostics tool provides insight into the network conditions you are working with. As you can see here, Latency is under 150milliseconds & bandwidth is greater than 50KB/s. These numbers are provided as general performance guidelines and don’t guarantee satisfactory performance.
If you are still facing performance issue even though all the parameters of the “Diagnostic tests” are showing good results, then there could be some issue with customization \ configuration which can be determined by analyzing an environment.
